In a major step aimed at revamping the visibility of domestic cricket in the country, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to launch a dedicated digital app and in-house broadcast platform to live stream domestic matches and deliver highlights directly to fans across the world.
The initiative was confirmed by Director of Domestic Cricket, Abdullah Khurram Niazi, who revealed that the move is part of the PCB’s broader push to enhance the reach, presentation, and commercial viability of Pakistan’s domestic structure.
This development represents a long-overdue shift in the PCB’s approach to domestic cricket coverage, which has often struggled for consistent exposure despite being the foundation of the national team’s success. Historically, local tournaments like the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and National T20 Cup have seen sporadic or limited coverage, leaving fans disconnected from the grassroots level of the game.
The upcoming platform will give fans access to live matches, match highlights, player interviews, and potentially behind-the-scenes content. For the first time, Pakistan’s domestic cricketers will have a centralized broadcast vehicle dedicated to showcasing their performances, rather than relying on third-party broadcasters or social media clips.
While Abdullah Khurram Niazi did not disclose the complete details of the upcoming PCB app, he confirmed that in-house cameras will be used to live-stream the domestic games, and every game not live-streamed will at least have its highlights shown on the PCB app.
The PCB has yet to announce the exact release date or technical details of the app, but officials suggest it will be ready ahead of the upcoming domestic season. It’s part of a larger modernization strategy under the domestic cricket department, which includes revamping tournament structures, improving playing conditions, and enhancing player development programs.
For a cricket-obsessed nation that often loses sight of the engine room behind its international stars, this could be a game-changing initiative.
With rising competition for attention across the cricketing world, the PCB’s move to bring domestic cricket closer to fans and give it a platform of its own may just help Pakistan reconnect with the talent pipeline that is expected to fuel its future triumphs.
