Pakistan’s auto industry recorded its highest monthly sales in nearly three years, with passenger car sales rising to 21,773 units in June 2025, up 43% year-on-year (YoY), according to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) and compiled by Topline Research.
June Sales Boosted by Pre-GST Buying
The 47% month-on-month (MoM) increase in car sales was primarily driven by a sharp rise in demand ahead of a scheduled General Sales Tax (GST) increase from 12.5% to 18%, effective July 1, 2025. The surge was led by Pak Suzuki’s Alto, which recorded its best performance in 39 months.
Stable macroeconomic indicators, declining interest rates, easing inflation, and improved consumer sentiment further supported the strong YoY growth. Total passenger car sales for FY25 reached 148,023 units, marking a 43% increase from 103,829 units in FY24.
Company-Wise Performance
Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) reported the highest MoM increase, with sales rising 2.4 times to 13,217 units. This included 9,497 units of Alto alone, which posted a 2.8x MoM jump. Cultus sales also more than doubled during the month.
Sazgar Engineering Works (SAZEW) posted 1,349 units in June, reflecting a 47% MoM and 55% YoY increase, supported by the launch of the HAVAL facelift. Full-year sales doubled to 10,844 units compared to 5,374 units in FY24.
Indus Motor Company (INDU) recorded a 25% YoY rise but saw a 24% MoM decline to 3,687 units. Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) posted 1,808 units, up 65% YoY and down 10% MoM.
