Azad Kashmir Govt Employees to Receive 30% Pay Raise from August

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has approved a 30% increase in the Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA) for all government employees from Basic Pay Scale (BPS) 1 to 22. The announcement was confirmed in a notification issued by the AJK Finance Department.

According to the official document, the revised allowance will take effect from July 1, 2025, meaning employees should start receiving increased salaries from August 2025. These salaries will be calculated based on the basic pay as of June 30, 2022. The government clarified that employees appointed after July 1, 2022, will receive the benefit based on the 2017 pay scale.

Applies to All Regular Govt Employees

The increase applies to all regular government employees, including those in administrative, clerical, and technical roles. However, the decision does not extend to employees hired after July 2022 under the 2022 pay scale framework.

The move comes at a time of ongoing economic pressure, with rising inflation affecting households across the region. The DRA is specifically designed to address pay disparities between various government departments and service cadres.

This latest increase follows similar measures taken by the federal government earlier in July, which also approved a 30% rise in the DRA for employees in equivalent pay grades. AJK’s decision ensures consistency in allowances and aims to minimize income gaps among civil servants.
