Indian Man Arrested for Running Fake Embassies

Indian authorities have arrested a man accused of operating fake embassies out of a rented home near Delhi, where they also found vehicles sporting fake diplomatic license plates.

The individual, identified as Harshvardhan Jain, 47, allegedly posed as an ambassador and promised people jobs abroad in exchange for money, according to Sushil Ghule, a senior officer with Uttar Pradesh’s special task force.

Investigators say Jain claimed to represent obscure entities like “Seborga” and “Westarctica,” presenting himself as either an adviser or ambassador. Police also discovered doctored images of Jain with global leaders, as well as forged seals from India’s foreign ministry and nearly 30 other countries.

Authorities suspect Jain was involved in money laundering through offshore shell companies. He now faces multiple charges, including forgery, impersonation, and possession of fraudulent documents.

During the raid, police seized four vehicles with fake diplomatic plates, about INR 4.5 million (roughly Rs. 14.8 million), and various foreign currencies. The property was reportedly decorated with flags from several nations.
