The Pakistan Cricket Board has officially confirmed the schedule of the tri-nation series, with Afghanistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE) joining the Green Shirts as participants.
Originally, Pakistan was set to host Afghanistan at home before PCB decided to change the format ahead of the Asia Cup.
All the matches will be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium from August 29 to September 7, with the series serving as a vital lead-up to the 2025 ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup, which will take place in the UAE immediately afterwards from September 9 to 28.
Designed to help teams fine-tune their squads and adapt to UAE conditions, the tri-series offers Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the hosts a competitive window just days before the eight-team Asia Cup kicks off. With all matches played under lights at 7pm local time, the series provides ample match practice under similar conditions expected in the continental tournament.
The tri-series will open on Friday, August 29, with a high-stakes clash between regional rivals Afghanistan and Pakistan. Each team will face the others twice in a double round-robin format, ensuring all three sides get at least four matches before the top two teams progress to the final on September 7.
Sharjah, a venue steeped in subcontinental cricket history, is expected to offer spin-friendly conditions and fast outfields, making tactical adaptability and depth in the bowling department key factors for success.
