Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) dream of having an international cricket stadium in Islamabad is reportedly coming true, with local media claiming that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has handed over the responsibility of designing and supervising the construction of a new international standard cricket stadium in F-9 Park to the renowned National Engineering Services Pakistan Pvt Limited (NESPAK).
The announcement, made by NESPAK’s Managing Director, Muhammad Zargham Eshaq Khan, marks a pivotal moment for Pakistan’s sporting landscape.
The ambitious project, awarded on a government-to-government basis, will bring a state-of-the-art cricket stadium to the heart of the capital. It is expected to become a key venue for both national and international cricket matches, offering world-class facilities that meet the highest international standards.
A team from NESPAK, including the Project Manager, lead architect, and structural engineer, has reportedly already conducted an initial assessment of the proposed location. Former Pakistan cricket captain Rashid Latif has also been appointed as an expert consultant by the PCB for the project, with his insights and technical expertise expected to play a key role in ensuring the stadium meets global benchmarks for top-tier cricket facilities.
The PCB had previously hinted at constructing an international cricket stadium in Islamabad, but no concrete steps were taken until now.
This monumental project will reportedly be overseen directly by PCB Chairman and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to developing world-class sports infrastructure across the country.

This is an insane, illogical and unprofessional thought of constructing stadium. Just think, during international all the surrounding roads will be closed. Another headache will begin.

Very, very, very bad Idea to construct a stadium in F 9 park while enough place is available besides D 12 which is usually called C 12.
I will request, if any patriotic lawyer can take this matter to court and stop CDA from destroying F9 park and the environment. During marches citizens of islamabad will be most affected, road closure and other nuisance. May Allah help us from the current stupids sitting on CDAs board

I think pindi stadium is sufficient in this region, if it is necessary to convert f9 park into stadium, than after induction of capital cricket stadium, pindi cricket stadium must be grounded and transform into a beautiful Flowers park inthe heart of the city……

It is a very bad idea, especially for the capital. The greenery in f_9 Park will be damaged, there will be parking issues, and the climate will be affected badly. Many other problems will arise, so do not proceed with this nonsense. Instead invest in the IT industry, education sector, health sector, rural development programs, and many other areas that have been left behind. A stadium should not be the priority.
Just to destroy the endangered green ecology already sabotaged by so called avenues, wasting public money for political point scoring and gain favours.

It is essential to have a cricket stadium in Islamabad, but F-9 Park is absolutely the wrong location for it! This area is meant for peace and relaxation, not to be transformed into a concrete jungle that contributes to traffic chaos. We cannot overlook the significant loss of trees and natural beauty in this cherished space. Islamabad has plenty of other empty areas that can accommodate a stadium without harming our environment. The only park of Islamabad will be erased for this so called cricket stadium, all the green spaces have been ruined by the CDA, and F9 park is the heart of Islamabad most of the people go there for jogging, cycling ,walk.Have the brilliant minds considered the traffic chaos in Islamabad, we already are facing higher temperatures, smog, construction, destruction of green spaces and this stadium in the F9 park will bring more chaos and destruction. We don’t need a stupid stadium in Islamabad we want our green spaces and serenity back into Islamabad not the chaos and destruction we’ve been witnessing.
