The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced on Wednesday that there will be no gas suspension in Karachi’s District West on August 14, reversing an earlier decision.
The company had previously issued a notice about a planned shutdown from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in several areas, including Haroonabad SITE Area, Sher Shah, SITE, Jehanabad, Mianwali Colony, Lashari Mohalla, Metroville, Bawani Chali, Pathan Colony, Old Golimar, Rexer Colony, Hasan Oliya, and Muslimabad.
Industrial locations such as SITE Industrial Area, Gulbai, Mauripur, Tikri Village, and Muslim Colony were also slated to be affected.
The temporary suspension was initially intended to facilitate the relocation of a gas pipeline at the request of the Karachi Water Board. However, the Water Board’s pipeline restoration program has now been postponed.
An SSGC spokesperson said the decision to cancel the shutdown aims to ensure uninterrupted gas supply for consumers during the Independence Day holiday. “The statement issued on Tuesday regarding the suspension should now be considered cancelled,” the spokesperson added.
