In view of the risk of further flooding, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced the temporary closure of higher education institutions across several districts.
According to a notification issued by the Higher Education Department (HED) KP, all universities and colleges in Swat, Buner, Mansehra, Chitral, and other upper districts will remain closed from August 19 to August 25.
During this period, teaching activities will continue online to ensure that the academic calendar is not disrupted.
The official statement highlighted that the decision was taken due to forecasts of more flooding in vulnerable areas.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, the Education Department had already declared a week-long holiday for schools in the province under the same precautionary measures.
