Pakistan Railways is considering shutting down two trains because of a serious shortage of coaches. Officials are discussing the possible closure of the Shah Hussain Express, which travels to Karachi with 34 coaches, and the Khushhal Khan Khattak Express, which usually operates with around 50 coaches.
Sources say that both a lack of coaches and low passenger turnout are behind the proposal. The railway system is currently short by about 100 coaches, which is also impacting other train services.
Meetings are underway at the railway headquarters to decide whether to completely stop these two trains, but no final decision has been made yet. If these trains are discontinued, it could further disrupt railway operations and leave passengers with fewer travel options.
In other news, Pakistan Railways has ordered all passenger and freight trains to strictly follow new safety protocols focused on brake system checks in light of several recent train accidents. A circular from the Chief Operating Superintendent requires that no train be cleared for service unless all braking components are fully functional and verified by technical teams.
Any coach or engine not meeting these standards must be removed from service immediately. The move aims to improve passenger safety, reduce delays, and prevent further accidents by enforcing strict compliance with these updated safety measures.

2. Selection and promotion only on 100% merit, no more political bharti.

4. Match cost of ticket with facilities, that is the major reason of failure to attract passengers.
5. Still lot of people want to travel by train but because of poor operation management, delays and not matching services with cost of ticket they prefer Buses and By air travel.

100 coaches shortage should be covered by repairing and renovating large number of coaches standing for years in many stations inviting thieves to steal nut bolts and seats etc.Moreover, Hanif Abbasi should travel on trains time and again to check why too many trains derail one after the other. He should not enjoy sitting in luxurious office but put in some hard work. He can find by travelling himself which section is showing problem in smooth running of important trains and where trains jolt, violently shake and inside breakage sounds come at a permitted speed. Then, faults can be detected. Just appointing teams is not enough, he should himself monitor to find faults if he is a true minister of railways and not a duke.

Trains will stop. Tracks will not be improved but officers and staff will remain there as a bourdon in Govt. Ex Chequer. They are such a dumb and unintelligent breed that they cannot maintain an already established Railway system. Is there no one to identify loopholes and get those correct. For what they get salaries??? Why Govt. does not take action?? A serious action. Why Govt. does not try to know the actual reasons by itself. No one is serious here…
It’s a good initiative for rail services but will be useless if the inner politics of the railway workers brings it to a failure! I hope in these modern times we could at least correct what should rightfully be correct..!these sort of negligible actions are commonly considered as criminal actions..I hope one day we become civilized enough to 1st understand the value of life in a real way!
See this is what I meant when I said inner politics of railway workers..I just read a comment above from Mr.Abdul Hafeez an employee of Pak Railways blaming it on the Govt and has his own suggestions for improvement! Now this is the thing that ruins every infrastructure of an Govt run organization..as long as there are organizations that are politically infested no work will be delivered..never!impossible!

Every thing in this country is in the doldrums, except the evergreen and all powerful Establishment!
Recently I travelled in AC Executive & Standard through Railcar & Express Trains graded as of highest degree. My observations are as under:-
1. The punctuality of this service, once graded as exemplary, has now gone to dogs.
2. The cleanliness, in particular those of Toilets was worst, even at the commencement of journey.
3. The deficiency of Dining Cars, once at par with any reasonable Restaurant, has left the passengers at the mercy of tit-bits of Railway stations sold at exorbitantly higher rates. Even the water bottles of 0.5 Ltrs at Rs. 80 plus at Rawalpindi Stn. Platform Stalls.
Shah Hussain Express was a very good service for the people of Multan. We have no train for Karachi from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm. So start this train via Multan keeping in view the timing of this about 6 hours gap. I think it will be more profitable.
