Pakistan is preparing to welcome its own edition of the world-famous reality TV franchise Got Talent. Pixel Entertainment has signed an official agreement with Fremantle, the international entertainment company that owns the rights, to bring the show to local screens.
Created by Simon Cowell, Got Talent has aired in more than 70 countries and holds the Guinness World Record as the most successful reality format ever. Now, for the first time, Pakistani performers will have the opportunity to showcase their abilities on Pakistan’s Got Talent. The show will feature a wide range of acts, including singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, acrobats, beatboxers, and many others, with nationwide auditions set to begin soon.
Rizwan Siddiqui, CEO and co-founder of Pixel Entertainment, called the project a landmark step for the country’s entertainment industry. “This is a moment of immense pride and excitement. Bringing Got Talent to Pakistan means unlocking the incredible, diverse, and often undiscovered talent that exists across our cities, towns, and villages. We are thrilled to provide a global stage for Pakistani performers to shine,” he said.
The development comes shortly after another major announcement: the return of Pakistan Idol. MHL Global recently acquired the rights to revive the singing competition, which Fremantle also owns.
The reboot of Pakistan Idol will be hosted by actor and comedian Shafaat Ali, with a star-studded judging panel featuring Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Bilal Maqsood of Strings. A key change in the new season is that contestants will only perform Pakistani songs, a move confirmed by Zeb Bangash on Instagram. Fans have welcomed the decision, praising it as a step toward promoting local music rather than Bollywood tracks.
Auditions for Pakistan Idol have already reached Lahore, with crowds of aspiring singers gathering at the Alhamra Cultural Complex near Gaddafi Stadium.
Zoya Merchant, Director at MHL Global, described the revival as more than just a television project. “Pakistan Idol is not just a show, but a cultural movement,” she said, adding that the partnership with Fremantle marks a major milestone for the country’s creative industry.
The first season of Pakistan Idol aired in 2013–14, with Lahore’s Zamad Baig emerging as the winner. Now, with both Pakistan’s Got Talent and Pakistan Idol moving into production, Pakistan’s entertainment sector is set for a major transformation, creating new opportunities for performers and showcasing national talent on an international level.
