Punjab Announces Civil Award for Late Assistant Commissioner Pattoki

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that late Assistant Commissioner Pattoki, Furqan Ahmed Khan, will be awarded a top civil honor in recognition of his service during flood relief operations. She also approved financial assistance of one crore rupees for his family.

Furqan Ahmed Khan tragically passed away on August 31 after suffering a brain hemorrhage while on duty at Head Balloki, one of the worst flood-hit regions. He had been stationed there for several days, personally supervising rescue and relief operations. Despite his declining health, Khan continued to serve tirelessly in the field.

In her tribute, CM Maryam Nawaz said Furqan Ahmed Khan’s sacrifice was a “shining example of commitment and duty.” She praised his dedication, noting that he remained engaged in coordinating medical relief, food distribution, and rescue efforts for flood victims until his last breath.

Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Irfan Kathia confirmed that the province is enduring one of the worst floods in its history, with 33 people dead, nearly two million affected, and more than 2,200 villages submerged.

The Chief Minister added that Furqan Ahmed Khan’s devotion to public service, even in life-threatening conditions, will always be remembered with respect and gratitude.
