NADRA Counters to be Established in All Union Councils of Major City

At a ceremony on Friday, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab revealed that NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) counters will soon be established in all union councils to enhance public access to registration services. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the newly upgraded NADRA registration centre at Babar Market in Landhi.

Mayor Wahab also shared that an immediate feasibility study will be conducted for building a new NADRA centre at Kakri Ground in Lyari. In addition, large-scale “mega centres” are currently under construction in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulberg, and Surjani Town.

The modernized Landhi centre now features seven single-window counters—up from four—to expedite processing. It now accommodates up to 120 people and includes separate restrooms for men and women, wheelchair access, and drinking water facilities.

Amir Ali Khan, NADRA’s Director General for Sindh, noted that five centres in Karachi have already been refurbished, with a total of 21 upgrades planned across the city. He acknowledged some initial user challenges with the new mobile app but emphasized that once fully operational, it will deliver reliable and lasting service improvements.
