Arshad Nadeem Defies the Odds to Reach the Javelin Final at World Athletics Championship

In a moment that further solidified his reputation as one of the finest athletes of his generation, Arshad Nadeem has officially qualified for the final of the men’s javelin throw at the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo, marking a triumphant return to the global stage after months of recovery and anticipation.

After a shaky start, the Olympic finalist delivered a massive throw of 85.28 meters on his final attempt, securing automatic qualification among the world’s elite.

This was his first competitive outing since undergoing leg surgery earlier this year. Arshad Nadeem initial throws of 76.99m and 74.17m left him on the brink of elimination. But with everything on the line, he rose to the occasion, breaching the automatic qualification mark of 84.50m when it mattered most.

His throw placed him fifth overall, behind Anderson Peters (89.53m), Julian Weber (87.21m), Julius Yego (85.96m), and Dawid Wegner (85.67m)—but ahead of his longtime rival Neeraj Chopra (84.85m).

The final, scheduled for September 18, promises a high-octane showdown, with regional pride and global glory at stake.

For Pakistan, Arshad’s qualification is more than a sporting milestone. It’s a rare moment of hope in athletics, a discipline where the country has long struggled to make its mark. His presence in the final reignites dreams of a world title and more international recognition.

As the nation holds its breath, all eyes turn to Tokyo. Medal or not, Arshad Nadeem has already etched his name into the annals of Pakistani sports history once more.
