The Punjab Assembly has moved to regulate private academies, coaching centers, and tuition centers across the province.
The Punjab Private Educational Institutions Promotion and Regulation (Amendment) Bill was presented by PML-N legislator Amjad Ali Javed during the recent session.
The bill notes that the number of private academies and coaching institutes has risen sharply over the past decade. While these institutions play an important role in helping students prepare for exams, their unregulated growth has become a matter of concern.
Lawmakers said that introducing a legal framework would help standardize operations, ensure transparency, and safeguard students’ interests.
The bill has been referred to a committee, which will present its report within two months. After review, it will return to the assembly for approval. The final decision will rest with Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider.
