Another Province Announces Electric Bikes for Women

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has announced the launch of electric bikes for working women on easy installment plans, alongside the expansion of the province’s electric bus fleet.

Chairing a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Bugti said the initiative is aimed at empowering women by promoting their economic independence and addressing their transport challenges. “We want women to be self-reliant and actively contribute to social and economic sectors,” he stated.

According to officials, the scheme will enable working women to obtain electric bikes through convenient payment options, reducing reliance on unsafe or unreliable transport.

At the same time, the government has finalized procurement of new buses under the Green Bus scheme. The fleet is expected to arrive at Karachi Port by mid-October and will be deployed in major urban centers of Balochistan. A Pink Bus Service, dedicated exclusively to female passengers, will also be launched to provide safe and affordable commuting.

CM Bugti directed authorities to ensure that both projects — electric bikes for women and the Green Bus expansion — are completed by October, calling them “key steps in improving urban mobility and addressing citizens’ daily hardships.”

Officials said the initiatives mark an important move towards eco-friendly transport while creating safer and more inclusive options for commuters across Balochistan.
