Meta has announced that it will soon introduce an ad-free subscription model for Facebook and Instagram users. The service, expected to be launched in the coming weeks, will give users the option to pay a monthly fee to remove ads from their feeds.
According to the company, web users will be charged £2.99 per month, while mobile users on iOS and Android will pay £3.99 per month. Those who choose not to subscribe will continue to access both platforms for free, but with ads.
The change has only been announced in the UK for now, with no confirmation for a Pakistan rollout just yet.
Why the Change Is Happening
Meta said the new model comes in response to increasing regulatory scrutiny in Europe, particularly demands for greater transparency over how user data is used in targeted advertising. The company has already faced challenges in the European Union, where regulators ruled that its “pay or consent” approach risked violating the Digital Markets Act.
Earlier this year, the European Commission fined Meta €200 million, stating that users should have been offered a less intrusive advertising option, one that relied only on basic details such as age, gender, and location.
The company explained that subscribers who pay the monthly fee will not see video advertisements, and their personal data will not be used for advertising purposes. The service is being rolled out in phases, and while it is initially limited to the UK, industry observers believe the model could expand to other regions depending on regulatory approval.
This likely means that this ad subscription change will probably never arrive in Pakistan.

We need European policy in pakistan. Our data is being taken by Israel and usa govt illegally.
