Announced on October 5, 2024, this initiative aims to honour teachers and academic leaders who have demonstrated excellence, innovation, and a strong commitment to advancing education in the emirate.
The long-term residency will be available to educators working in early childhood centres, private schools, and international higher education institutions. This step reflects Dubai’s continued investment in human capital and its recognition of educators as key drivers of social progress and economic sustainability.

Educators in schools, nurseries, and universities may qualify for the Golden Visa if they meet one or more of the following benchmarks:

Who Can Apply
The Golden Visa is open to:
- School principals and education leaders
- Managers of early childhood centres
- Academic heads and deans of higher education institutions
- Teachers in schools and ECCs
- Full-time faculty and senior administrators at higher education institutions
Eligibility Criteria
For ECC Managers, Principals, and Academic Heads
- Qualifications (HEI only): Must hold an advanced degree (PhD, professional doctorate, master’s) or equivalent professional certification, such as CPA or a fellowship.
- School Ratings (Principals): The institution must have achieved and maintained a “Good” or higher rating from the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB).
- Research Contributions (HEI): Evidence of published research, academic collaborations, research grants, consultative reports, or creative outputs.
- Student Achievement: Demonstrable improvement in student performance, graduation rates, or academic progress.
- Leadership Impact: Positive feedback from parents, staff, and students regarding leadership and institutional environment.
- Awards and Recognition: Must have received significant educational recognition, such as grants, fellowships, or national/international awards.
- Community Engagement: Proven involvement in community projects or partnerships that promote education and social development.
- Formal Nomination: Must be officially nominated by the school’s board of governors, supported by clear justifications.
For Teachers and Faculty
- Qualifications (HEI only): Must possess an advanced degree or recognised professional certification.
- Professional Excellence:
- Nomination by the school principal with endorsement from the board of governors.
- Evidence of students’ success in internal and external assessments.
- Positive feedback from students, parents, and supervisors.
- Academic and Research Contributions (HEI Faculty): Documented evidence of published research, academic collaborations, grants, or creative projects.
Support for Key Student Groups:
- Improved outcomes for Emirati students.
- Active contribution to the development of students of determination.
Awards and Recognition: Recipient of a national or international education award, such as the Hamdan Award or Global Teacher Prize, or recognition through fellowships or academic competitions.
Community Contribution: Demonstrated participation in school or community-based educational initiatives.
Application Process
Eligible institutions — including schools, early childhood centres, and higher education institutions — can nominate deserving educators who meet the criteria.
Applicants must provide:
- KHDA inspection and rating reports (for principals)
- Award and recognition certificates
- Student and parent survey results or testimonials
- Staff recommendations (for leaders and managers)
- Proof of community engagement and student improvement
- Nomination and recommendation letters from the board of governors
Evaluation and Approval
All applications will be reviewed by a dedicated committee, whose recommendations will be forwarded to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).
KHDA will then verify eligibility in collaboration with the relevant government authorities.
Successful candidates will be notified once their Golden Visa approval is confirmed.
