A summary proposing a relaxation of the recruitment ban in the Punjab Special Branch has been prepared.
According to reports, approval has been sought from the provincial cabinet to allow fresh hiring in the intelligence and technical cadres. The Punjab Police has requested permission to recruit candidates for Grade 14 to Grade 17 positions.
The new hiring will be carried out for approved posts in the technical and intelligence cadres of the Special Branch. Recruitment for these positions had been on hold under the 2020 Special Branch Rules.
Once the cabinet grants approval and the 2020 rules are amended, the recruitment process is expected to move forward.
The intelligence cadre will include personnel responsible for gathering confidential information, while the technical cadre will consist of system operators, technical officers, and supervisors. These steps are aimed at strengthening the Special Branch’s modern security and intelligence systems across Punjab.
