The Ministry of Interior has issued new directives making prior approval mandatory for any meetings between its officers and foreign nationals, according to a recent official circular.
The circular, shared on Tuesday, instructed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), and Islamabad Police to ensure strict compliance with the new rule. Under the revised protocol, officers must obtain written approval from the Interior Secretary before attending or accepting any official or personal invitations involving foreign individuals.

The notification further clarified that approval is also required for meetings with representatives of foreign embassies, missions, or international organisations. Any engagement without prior authorisation will be considered a violation of the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules.
According to the directive, no officer under the ministry is permitted to hold discussions with foreign nationals or entities without first obtaining formal clearance.
The circular concluded by urging all departments and officers under the Interior Ministry to strictly adhere to the new guidelines and ensure full compliance.
