Teachers working in schools affiliated with the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) continue to face financial hardship as their salaries have yet to be increased to Rs. 20,000, despite an earlier announcement by the provincial education minister.
According to reports, the PEF has not yet issued an official notification to implement the new salary structure. The delay has led to frustration among teachers, who were expecting relief following the government’s announcement.
Owners of PEF partner schools have also refused to implement the salary increase without a formal directive from the foundation. “We will not proceed until the PEF issues an official notification,” school owners said.
PEF officials, meanwhile, stated that the matter of salary enhancement is still under consideration and requires formal approval from the provincial cabinet before implementation.
Teachers have urged the Punjab government and the PEF to expedite the process, saying that the delay has worsened their financial situation amid rising inflation.
