Thief Kills 85-Year-Old Woman While Stealing Jewelry Worth Rs. 1.2 Million

An 85-year-old woman was allegedly murdered and robbed of gold jewelry worth Rs. 1.2 million in Chandala village, Punjab. The incident took place within the Daulat Nagar police limits.

According to the FIR, complainant Falak Sher, a furniture shop owner near Lalamusa, stated that his elderly parents resided in a separate house adjacent to his own.

On October 5, his brother Amjad discovered their mother, Shah Begum, lying dead in the bathroom with bruises on her neck. Initially, the family believed she had slipped and sustained a fatal head injury, and she was subsequently buried in the local graveyard.

However, on October 11, when the family checked her belongings, they found four tolas of gold jewelry missing. A local resident later informed them that a man named Shahzaib alias Shebbi, who lived nearby, was seen leaving the victim’s house about an hour before she was found dead.

Falak Sher accused the suspect of killing his mother by strangulation and stealing her jewelry. Police have registered a case under Sections 302 (murder) and 386 (extortion) of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched an investigation.

Officials said the inquiry might require exhuming the woman’s body for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death. Forensic tests and medical reports will help determine the facts of the case.
