The National Highway Authority has set 2028 as the new completion deadline for the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway.
This update was shared with the Economic Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, where NHA officials reported that a general procurement notice has been issued, and negotiations for joint financing are ongoing with the OPEC Fund and the Saudi Fund for Development.
Officials said that construction work will begin once contract awards and funding agreements are finalized.
The motorway is considered a key infrastructure project for Sindh, aiming to improve connectivity and reduce travel times between Sukkur and Hyderabad.
During the briefing, committee members raised questions about the loan secured from the Islamic Development Bank to help fund the project.
Lawmakers expressed concern over the interest rate, which has climbed above 6 percent, and the long repayment schedule. NHA representatives explained that the loan terms were set by the bank and include a 20-year repayment period with a five-year grace period.
The Economic Affairs Committee has requested regular updates from the NHA as the project advances toward construction and completion.
Hyderabad- Sukkur Motor way already much delayed due to Sindh Government as well as NHA / Fedral government do not prioritise it. Instead they focus on other Projects. Although it’s an important link
Too much unnecessary delays on this Hyderabad -Sukkur motorway. Responsibility lies both on Sindh Govt and Federal Govt both, negligence is from both sides.
Any Project of Public interest should be completed in time.

What about Sailkot RawalPindi motorway it has been more than 7-10 years and still it hasn’t been constructed. Just 80-100km area pending and delaying it for nothing
Those who are the reasons to delay nations development projects and takes salaries and benifits from public funds are the proxcies of outside enemies sitting in our public service organs of state.
They delay projects at the cost of public and nations loss and revising every project costs nation and its people lots of financial losses.
Solution to this problem is invoking article six against all such elements.

All these projects are delayed bcz of external enemies proxies sitting in our decision making offices and they are getting saliries and benifits from public funds.
Another crime the do against people and nation is they start borrowing foreign cruncy loans from external and internal borrowers.
Question is while building a motorway we need workers and enginners we pay them in pak cruncy.
we need steel, crushed stones gravels coal tar cement and other meterials all available in our own country and are purchased with pak rupees.
Only little segment of machinary is needed with foreign exchange most of machinary is already available in the country.
But they like to increase the debt of nation.
No anticoruption, accountability delartment court is their to check.
