Student Drinks Acid After Failing First-Year Exams

A first-year student took her own life after failing her annual examination. This unfortunate incident took place in Hafizabad.

According to police, the student, identified as Tayyaba, drank acid after learning that she had failed her exams. Her family immediately shifted her to the trauma center, but despite medical efforts, she could not survive.

Tayyaba’s father confirmed that she had been deeply upset over her exam results, which led her to take this extreme step.

Earlier, a similar case was reported in Upper Dir, where a 15-year-old student named Anmol committed suicide after learning about her matric exam results. Police said Anmol had secured 1,010 out of 1,200 marks under the Malakand Board but was unhappy with her performance. Overwhelmed by emotional distress, she shot herself. Despite being rushed to the hospital, doctors declared her dead on arrival.

In another recent incident, a 19-year-old student at Government College Women University (GCWU) attempted suicide after receiving low marks. The student, Zainab, jumped from the stairs in distress but was rescued by Rescue 1122 and shifted to Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed her condition is now stable.
