Islamabad Metro Feeder Bus Route Changed Due to Dispute With NHA

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has diverted Metro feeder route FR-10 due to toll tax restrictions imposed by the National Highway Authority (NHA) at Sangjani, Interior Minister Senator Mohsin Naqvi informed the National Assembly.

The route, originally operating from Golra Mor Metro Station to Taxila via N-5, was rerouted through Margalla Road after NHA declined to allow bus passage without toll payment.

The minister stated that the CDA is currently providing up to 50% subsidy to ensure smooth operation of the feeder service, which is part of a public welfare initiative aimed at connecting Islamabad’s suburbs with the main city.  Despite multiple requests to the NHA for toll exemption for the electric feeder buses, no response has been received so far, he added.

According to the written reply, the original FR-10 route covered several key points, including 26 Number, Tarnol, G-15, G-16, Saifia Road, Sarai Kharbooza, E-16, E-17, and Sangjani before reaching Taxila. However, the toll restrictions have forced the CDA to divert operations through alternate roads, affecting public accessibility in these areas.

Senator Naqvi informed the house that CDA intends to restore the original route as soon as the toll exemption issue is settled with NHA. Once operations are resumed on the designated path, the feeder route will reconnect several outer sectors and suburban localities with the rest of Islamabad’s public transport network.

The minister further mentioned that the matter of toll exemption for feeder electric buses operating between 26 Chungi and Taxila has been formally referred to NHA for consideration. He said the civic authority awaits NHA’s response to facilitate the full reinstatement of the route as part of the city’s planned future transport corridor.

  • I think the rule should be same for everyone, whether it is a private vehicle or it is govt vehicle.
NHA must collect the toll from all (A-Z with no Exemption to anyone). If the feeder busses are for the public service than they should follow the all the rules to reach the public. If the govt is looking for shortcuts then the public will also do the same.
This is what happening everywhere, traffic police is charging fines to public for not wearing helmets while their staff is not the helmets while driving the govt/private bike. Similarly when the govt take exemptions the public will also look to create ways for exemptions

    • Dear sir, not agreed with your remarks, mostly low paid, daily wages employees uses this facility. Very good decision for government to this welfare service. NHA collect a huge amount in terms of Toll, but condition of GT road is front of every one. However some fare( i.e R’s 10/-)be increased for better meant of service

    • I think you lost your mind ….and you should consult a mental doctor 🏥. because as ab assured idiot you didn’t realize that if the bus started providing toll tax then it has side effect on the passenger .. because the fare would get increase and people like u who had a lot of money don’t care but an average lower class community is up there for which CDA bus are operating.

  • Toll tax bachany k chakr main route jo lamba kr diya hy uska hisab kon day ga. Sawari bhi kam hogai hogi. Aqalmand ziyada hi hain yeh

  • Who is the benefactor contractor behind toll tax collection?
If its a Government department assigned to collect toll tax then there must be an exemption mechanism for public services as all Government and its department and the department running bus operations all are public servants and must intent to serve public in their best way.
If its outsourced to a third-party non government entity then again there should be a mechanism to exempt employer’s internal mechanism as both the third-party entity’s employer and they all are serving public.

  • AoA request ha k FR 10 ka route Margalla Avenue best ha kayun k 26 No via G T Road Taxila k lay kafi transport avaliable ha but Margalla avenue par koi public transport nah F 11, E 10,E 11 D 12 C 13 and 14 k log is bus ko use kar rahy hay, thanks regards

  • This is a very good project, but there is one problem with it. The one that is FR 14 barakau to Mandi Mor should be taken to the main market and the one that is 14A should be taken to Murree so that the people of Murree can also get the opportunity to benefit from it.

  • It will be good move. But this root will require bigger Busses with more frequency. I would suggest to start an Orange train from Hassan Abdal to Saddar (Rawalpindi)
    .
In other case from Sector B-17 (Multi Gardens) Islamabad to Civil Secretariat, Islamabad.

  • Assalam o Allaikum
It is good decision by CDA for consideration of new/ revised route via 26 No Chungi, G-15 / G-16 (Sectors) and Sangani till Taxila due to following reasons.
    1. Two main sectors G-15 & G-16 are missing, residents of these societies are suffering a lot too.
    2. These routes are more profitable from 26 number Chongi via G-15, G-16 (G. Road( to Sangani, Taxila.
    3. This route having no proper suitable transport facility from Taxila to Islamabad.
    Best Regards

  • Ye to zulm hai E.11/ D.12 / shah Allah ditta/C sectors waly ab kia karingy. Yahan ki awam taxila kaisy jaye gi ? Ye aik he bus nazar aa rahi hai baaki pory islamabad me buses ka jaal phaila diya hai aur sab is aik bus k pechay haath dho k parh gaye hain.

  • Please start pink buses from Bari imam to F/8 …we are paying 10 thousand rupees to cari daba drivers….

  • We are Contract teachers our salaries are already very less but the van drivers are very rude with us they demand 10 thousand for f8
….all the metro buses are not near

  • In my opinion toll plaza must be after Wah Cantt Barrier 3, mainly toll collection made on highways not from local transport. Sangjani toll plaza must be removed from here and should placed after Wah cantt.
