Pakistan Railways has inaugurated a newly refurbished rake for its railcar service operating between Lahore and Rawalpindi, marking another step toward improving passenger facilities and service quality.
The official inauguration ceremony was held in Lahore, where Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan Railways Aamir Ali Baloch inspected the upgraded coaches. According to officials, the new rake has been redesigned to better withstand challenging routes and rail tracks while offering enhanced onboard amenities.
The refurbished coaches now feature improved passenger facilities, including food and beverage services, first-aid supplies, and upgraded sanitation standards to ensure a more comfortable travel experience.
Speaking at the ceremony, CEO Baloch said similar upgrades are being introduced across other trains in the network. He noted that Pakistan Railways is focusing on improving every aspect of service — from catering and hygiene to safety and medical support — to provide passengers with a reliable and comfortable journey.
He reaffirmed that train travel remains among the most affordable and secure modes of transportation in the country. Maintenance and upgradation of locomotives and tracks are already in progress, he added, highlighting that international financing is being utilized to modernize infrastructure and improve train speed and efficiency in the future.
