The Punjab government has proposed allocating 500 meters on both sides of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) Project for new economic zones, a medical city, tourism sites, wholesale markets, and a truck terminal.
A special meeting at the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Conference Room, chaired by RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, focused on comprehensive land use planning for the project.
Officials discussed a holistic framework to decongest Rawalpindi and support the creation of economic zones, a medical city, a tourism city, an expo center, a dry port, industrial zones, transport terminals, wholesale markets, an agro-forest park, a general bus stand, a fruit and vegetable market, grain market, and other designated land uses along the Ring Road corridor.
Kinza Murtaza highlighted the transformative impact of the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project. She said the initiative will ease traffic congestion in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, while providing a clean, healthy, and safe environment for residents.
She added that the project will boost the regional economy, create new jobs, and improve urban facilities.
Murtaza assured that construction work will be completed soon and stressed the need for sustainable, well-coordinated urban planning to ensure long-term economic growth and environmental protection.
She directed participants to conduct further studies and submit detailed recommendations by the end of the month.
