Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry has set an ambitious target of achieving USD 10 billion in exports.
The development came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, and a high-level delegation of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (PPMA) led by Chairman Dr. Tahir Azam.
The PPMA unveiled its vision for “PharmEx Pakistan,” a dedicated export promotion platform designed to bring together public and private stakeholders to accelerate sectoral growth and expand international market access.
Senator Aurangzeb praised the industry’s record 34 percent year-on-year export growth and noted that domestic pharmaceutical production has grown by 18 percent, significantly outpacing the global average of 5 percent. He also highlighted the government’s recent regulatory reforms, which have cut product registration timelines from years to weeks, enabling faster market entry for new drugs.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment between the government and industry to strengthen collaboration, attract investment, and drive export-led growth in Pakistan’s rapidly expanding pharmaceutical sector.

Ofcourse they do. They increased prices and told our fm to look the other way.
People can’t afford medicine anymore. What a joke this guy is.
I congratulate the pharma companies and the health ministry on increasing the export of medicines and achieving exponential growth. At the same time the government should restrict the mushrooming of small companies to curtail the entry of third company manufacturing to maintain standards. I am a doctor and have seen unbridled growth of such companies.
Yes congrats on making life saving medication expensive so no one can afford them.

There is a good reason that pharma product registration takes years, worldwide. Cutting it down to weeks means that the industry will now do experimentation on its customers, sadly. That’s what you get when the decision makers are desperate and stupid. I cannot recall any other country making such comical decisions at the expense of their own people. This decision is entirely unprecedented and will cause chaos with adverse effects spreading like wildfire in public.
