Another KP District is Getting BRT Service

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, has announced the expansion of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service and confirmed the purchase of 50 new buses, with another 50 set to be added soon to ease overcrowding and improve commuter experience.

He described the BRT as an affordable and high-quality transport facility serving the poor and middle-class residents. The expansion will extend the service to Tedi Bazaar (Jamraud) and Bara Bazaar in district Khyber.

During his visit to the University of Peshawar Station, the Chief Minister traveled on the BRT to the Karkhano Station, interacting with citizens to collect feedback and personally assess the service. He was accompanied by elected representatives and the Chief Secretary.

Speaking to the media, he reiterated that his ride on the BRT was aimed at evaluating the service firsthand.

On a separate note, when asked about the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the Chief Minister criticized it, stating it goes against the spirit of democracy. “The government currently in power holds only 17 seats. They neither have the people’s mandate nor the authority to amend the Constitution,” he asserted.

  • 13 years of government and no public transport to any city of KP except BRT peshawar which already have issues

  • BRT was built with very high cost because of very higher level of Commissions it’s really a burden on economy of the province

  • The plan to expand the BRT system shows vision for modern transport.
However, it also reflects a big challenge in the current economic situation.
People will support it only if the existing system works properly.
