Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams inspected 3,209 breakfast outlets across the province under Chief Minister Punjab’s Adulteration Free Punjab Mission. The operation led to two outlets being sealed, one FIR registered, and fines totaling more than Rs. 13.6 million imposed on food business operators.
During the inspections, food safety teams confiscated expired or banned items and discarded over 200 liters of substandard oil. The PFA Director General said officers issued improvement notices to 2,183 outlets for minor violations, while repeat offenders faced heavy fines.
Inspectors uncovered unhygienic storage conditions, rusty utensils, pest infestations, expired meat, and rotten vegetables stored in fungus-infested freezers. The DG warned that consuming food prepared with expired or substandard ingredients could seriously endanger public health.
He emphasized that PFA continues to inspect food outlets regularly, ensuring every stage of food handling—from preparation to distribution—meets international standards.
The DG added that the authority is taking persistent action to dismantle adulteration and forgery networks across Punjab, protecting consumers and promoting food safety.
