MG Launches First Pickup Truck in Pakistan

MG has officially introduced its first-ever pickup truck in Pakistan, the all-new U9, marking a bold departure from the brand’s focus on electric and hybrid vehicles.

Unlike other manufacturers emphasizing EVs, PHEVs, or REEVs, MG has opted for a turbocharged diesel engine, signaling a unique approach in a market gradually shifting toward electrification.

The U9 is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine, a model previously available in Australia. Pakistan becomes the second country to receive this pickup, bringing MG into direct competition with established diesel trucks such as the ISUZU D-Max and Toyota Revo.

In Australia, the U9 competes with the Ford Ranger, highlighting its performance-oriented design. MG will showcase the U9 and open pre-bookings today at PAPS, with deliveries expected to begin in the first quarter of next year.

The U9 comes equipped with a robust 4×4 drivetrain featuring front and rear differential locks, a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 kilograms, and 220 millimeters of ground clearance.

Its ZF 8-speed automatic transmission delivers 215 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque, providing a blend of power and efficiency for both urban and off-road driving.

Inside, the pickup offers advanced comfort and safety features. The driver enjoys an 8-way electric seat with 4-way lumbar adjustment, heated, ventilated, and massage functionality, while passengers benefit from 6-way electric seats with heating.

The steering wheel is heated and adjustable in four directions. Safety is bolstered by seven airbags, L2 ADAS technology, a 540-degree camera system, and driver attention monitoring.

The U9 also features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with JBL eight-speaker audio, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Additional amenities include rear AC vents, an electric tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof, combining luxury with utility for daily use and long journeys.
