The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday raided a residential house in Nattoki, Lahore, and uncovered a unit producing synthetic and hazardous milk, officials said.
During the operation, PFA teams destroyed 400 litres of adulterated milk and seized a supplier’s vehicle, milk cans, 32 bags of powder, and 55 empty sacks.
Fake Milk Production Unit Busted
According to PFA Director General Asim Javed, the group had been secretly preparing fake milk inside a house and supplying it to shops late at night and early in the morning.
He said the operation followed prolonged surveillance, after which officials caught a suspect red-handed while mixing powder, water and substandard ghee to produce synthetic milk.
Hazardous Substances Recovered
The PFA recovered:
- Chemicals used for adulteration
- Contaminated ghee
- Thick counterfeit mixture
- Powdered substances used to prepare fake milk
On-the-spot testing confirmed the product was dangerous and unfit for consumption, leading to its immediate disposal.are
The PFA registered a case against those involved and launched further investigations to trace additional members of the adulteration network.
