Karachi commuters are set to experience significant changes on key routes as the Karachi Traffic Police moves forward with a new reform plan aimed at reducing accidents and improving overall traffic discipline.
DIG Traffic Karachi Peer Muhammad Shah briefed business leaders at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday, explaining how the upcoming measures will reshape daily travel across the city.
He said the department will begin directing motorcycles into dedicated bike lanes on Shahrah-e-Faisal starting in December. Traffic authorities expect this step to reduce frequent two wheeler accidents and help maintain a smoother flow for cars, buses, and commercial traffic on one of Karachi’s busiest corridors.
The planned reforms are part of a broader effort to create safer and more predictable commutes for millions of residents. Office workers, families, delivery riders, and commercial drivers are likely to benefit from fewer collisions, shorter travel times, and clearer road management.
The DIG stressed that improved traffic conditions rely on public cooperation, adding that enforcement works only when road users take the rules seriously and respect the system.

Such a small bike lane where buses are parked, where cars are parked
Atleast extend bike lane to atleast size of two full lanes or atleast 1 and a half. It’s size is barely half a lane.
This is going to cause even more accidents, as karachi have too narrow roads you simply can’t provide designated lanes for bikes or buses
At least for bike , at side not dedicated but actually on the left side on the …..
In reality, They are not following , keeping on left side of the road …..

Even if they implement at few wider selected roads, it will make a very positive impact
You really haven’t read the article have you? “He said the department will begin directing motorcycles into dedicated bike lanes on Shahrah-e-Faisal starting in December.”
Which part of Shahrah-e-Faisal is narrow?
Dont even understand where are the coming from, bikes are too many, designated lanes will be fully packed and speed limit at 60 kph will create more collisions.
Great efforts from traffic police side, But challan equal to Lahore.
Thanks
First of all Rishaws are not even number & numbers behind body. So many Suski Cartier are not indicate nos plats.
Rules for all plz. Signal on MA.Junaah road from Kiamari to Guru Mander run as in third class African countries
Best decision at least for major roads. I experienced that in China and other countries and it creates very good traffic flow. Hope riders follow it properly 🙏
Propakistani should blur faces in pictures like the one shown in this news.
This will be very good for safevtravel by 2 wheelers if they follow properly
At last. Whole world has a separate lane for motorcyclists except Pakistan. Shahra-e-Faisal has four lanes and they’re always full of motorcyclists posing an accident hazard. Should have been implemented fifty years back. Better late than never I guess.
Well, this was something must needed and should be monitored through police’s vehicles patrolling. Since there is no U-turn on the corridor mentioned, the two- wheelers should be on the designated lane on the roads.
One more rule should be considered as carrying whole family’s on a single bike on the busy roads should be prohibited, as it jeopardizes the safety of childrens being carried.
Firstly flow of traffic should be continually all roads are broken with full of sevarge water than control these lawless situation lyiare express is ingood condition to solve rush hour but it’s also fill of trash every time lyari river drainage system feel so smelly with open bad smell
Car speeds should be 80 / 100 km , Bikes 40v km with helmets, seat belts to be compulsory for cars, no use of mobile while driving. Fines should be reasonable. Signals should be in order, roads lanes marked clearly.
Yes it is very important to obey role but it is also important to government pay there job they are world 8 biggest citezens also
Why didn’t check Rikshaw , Chingchi and Busses first . who drive so carelessly and use emergrncy brakes like crazy in Bike lane…?
The traffic improvement initiatives are commendable; however, the following points require consideration at a foundational level:
1. Deteriorated road conditions are a significant contributor to accidents.
2. Traffic congestion caused by VIP movements, particularly on busy main thoroughfares, is a concern.
3. Underage motorcyclists, which have become a common occurrence, necessitate stringent punitive measures.
4. The practice of driving on the wrong side of the road for shortcuts is another factor contributing to accidents in Karachi.
5. A ban on auto-rickshaws and carts on Shahrah-e-Faisal should be implemented.
Thanks the authorities who took initial steps Karachist, for last few days, on Shahrah e Faisal Karachi cars are running in a single lane, but motor bikes violation is increased, when car will remain in their lanes the Moto bike lane will be wide and free of trafic, in this way accidents will be decrease automatically,
The busses use all lanes and when they stop, they do no care the lane and motorbikes accidents occur, on Nursery st, Natha Khan , Drig Road, Airport stops without any reason traffic jame makes traveling difficult.
Number of camera should be increased
E Chalan rate should be reduced for Bikes from 1500 to 500 , cars from 2500 to 1000
Excellent move.
This initiative will go a long way in creating a separate lane for your bike and a cycle lane, and a new road will be built. The bike lane that is currently in use is not even a path, it is very narrow.
To be honest, bikes are not the problem. There are two main reasons of accident:
1.Deep pot holes in the middle fast lanes.
2. Harsh driving of local buses.
Bike riders should and must learn to drive with in the lanes instead of cutting Infront of moving vehicles from right yo left and left to right. This kind of bike riders attitude is most dangerous and causing most of the accidents all over Karachi and infact in Pakistan.
Sh e Faisal & Korangi Road should have separate Lanes for Bikers and Rickshaws or all together Ban them from these roads. Not only they cause accidents by Rash Driving but also create a traffic havoc.
Apka bs chale to gareeb logon ko mulk se hi nikaal den… Jis k pas gari ho wo doosron ko insan hi nahi samajhte ….
Good dream,
Authorities have to think once, about the road extensions. shahra e faisal have only three lane road, and on three lane road how can restrict to bikes? where is ambulance designated road? remaining two lanes ambulance, buses, cars, rikshaw, trailer, dumpers will run smoothly? isn’t insane? why authorities not completing the holded roads projects since long!!!
Nice effort if implemented.
Please check documents of Riksha, Heavy Trucks , passenger Busses all kind of heavy wheelers,, they can’t have a rout permit & proper tax documents..
Yeh! Who are you kidding? Safety of two wheelers with them sharing the same lane as buses?
You all are liars and manipulators with no interest in safety of the lower class
Just pleasing the elite.
The problem with bikers is some of them are irrational and drive on shoulder lane. Mixing bike lane and shoulder lane will cause an accident. I think your better off with no lanes and making it clear its free for all
Traffic management on such strict pattern should be done after state has provided sufficient public transportation alternatives to the citizens. This, suit’s to a developed world where governments wish to keep minimum traffic on roads. But sorry to say Karachi cannot compete now with cities within pakistan a well.
Good initiative..but what about the bus stops on left side lanes? and when bus drivers recklessly try to change lanes to left trying to pick or drop passengers.. shouldn’t there be any rules of changing lanes and shouldn’t there be dedicated lanes for busses? And I don’t understand how these heavy vehicle drivers get their license tests clear when majority of them can’t even Speak or read clear Urdu? Authorized heavy vehicle driving institutes should be introduced where before obtaining a htv license one has to go through complete training and only drivers completing a certain hours of driving that particular heavy vehicle should only be issued license for that type of heavy vahicle..this will make HTV drivers good at their work and obeying the traffic rules..
