Officials from the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) have confirmed that work is underway on Pakistan’s first centralized emergency helpline, designed to streamline emergency response services across the country, similar to 911 in the US.
According to NTC representatives, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has already signed an agreement to launch the 911 emergency service in the province. Once operational, the system will allow anyone calling from anywhere in KP to be automatically connected to the nearest emergency center.
Officials said the service will roll out to other provinces after launching in KP first.
The centralized emergency helpline is expected to make response times faster and improve coordination between emergency agencies nationwide.
