Another Major Punjab City Officially Launches E-Challan System

Rawalpindi launched its long-awaited e-challan system on Friday, officially beginning electronic traffic ticketing through Safe City surveillance cameras.

According to the Safe City SSP, the system will start issuing fines today. It uses high-resolution cameras to detect violations such as running red lights, riding motorcycles without helmets, driving without seat belts, lane violations, and illegal number plates.

The system relies on AI to identify violations and automatically generate fines, which are then delivered to the offender’s home address. Any driver or rider passing a Safe City camera without meeting traffic requirements will be fined without manual intervention.

The Safe City Project has installed more than 2,000 cameras across 359 locations in Rawalpindi, including 15 cameras at major entry and exit points. The system aims to improve road safety and strengthen traffic enforcement across the city.

  • Assalaam-O-Alaikum.
This is a very nice step by the traffic department in controlling traffic violations offenders they should be highly fined for violation only this way the ever increasing traffic will be controlled otherwise there is nothing can be done

  • Good start to improve traffic awareness, the end of dangerous and rough driving, 90% drivers don’t know how to drive without knowing rules, the most drivers jumped the signals or continue to pass after red light, wrong use of round about by taking short cut, many motorists taking immediate turning ahead of bikes instead to wait or slowdown to take left before bike. Most bikers using high speed lane, the authority must draw the lanes on all roads keeping the vehicles to their respective lanes. The other common mistake to enter on main roads from merging roads without noticing if someone is already on the same lane, use of indicators and hazards is very rare. Keeping headlights at high beam is annoying other motorists. Keeping head lights full even the car stopped aside. Use of horn is another big issue, all big coaches and trucks must remove the pressure horns by imposing heavy fines. Authority must must make sure not to drive without Licence and minors must be discouraged by parents too. Motorists and bikers mostly not allowing the people even ladies, elders and disables to stop the vehicle and pass them. I lived 26 years in UAE therefore facing very hard to drive in pakistan. Stringent rules and fines are the only solution to teach the drivers.
Best Regards and have safe drive…..

  • Dear I got the challan at attock, and it is difficult for me to deposit it in Kp. I
Tried my to deposit though easy paisa, jazz cash at peshawar but unfortunately
    I fail to do so.

  • That’s something positive and this needs to be followed properly aswell.
Gov needs to put these cameras in all cities instead of only couple
