KP Food Authority Launches Crackdown on Unhygienic Food Outlets

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has launched a major crackdown in Peshawar after receiving multiple public complaints about unhygienic practices at local food outlets.

Food safety teams conducted surprise inspections in Taj Abad, Faqirabad, Bacha Khan Chowk, and Swati Phatak, targeting hotels, kebab shops, milk sellers, and chicken and fish points. Officials said several businesses were found violating basic hygiene standards, resulting in heavy fines.

A spokesperson for the authority said the teams detected poor sanitation, substandard milk, unhygienic meat, and improper food-handling practices during the inspections. Legal action has been initiated against outlets flouting food safety regulations.

Director General KP Food Authority Wasif Saeed praised the teams’ performance and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to safeguarding public health. He said strict and indiscriminate action is underway across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against those endangering citizens’ health, warning that violators will face tough penalties without leniency.

  • Ahhhh yes food authorities which always fail to lower food prices.

Funny how they raid for food quality but forget to check the menu and see the high prices.

Almost as if food authority is complicit.
