FIA Explains Why Some Passengers Are Being Stopped at Airports

The Federal Investigation Agency has clarified that passengers are being offloaded only when they lack valid travel documents or when officials suspect links to migrant smugglers. The statement comes after weeks of reports claiming travellers were removed from flights despite holding proper documents.

In a video message, FIA Lahore Zone Director Captain (retired) Muhammad Ali Zia dismissed viral AI-generated videos and social media posts as “false” and “misleading.” He said the rumours suggesting that people were being offloaded “for no reason” had no basis in reality.

Zia stated that many affected travellers had been deceived by migrant smuggling networks. He said FIA immigration officers verify documents and profile passengers, ensuring that no legitimate traveller is stopped.

He explained that passengers are denied departure when their documents are invalid, or when visas or work permits are linked to companies that do not exist. He added that some travellers attempt to leave through fraudulent means, including using Umrah visas or travelling with an accomplice to avoid scrutiny.

The FIA official said that in previous cases, such individuals were deported from foreign countries and subsequently investigated by the agency’s Anti-Human Trafficking Cell. He stressed that these smugglers exploit people by promising illegal routes to Europe and charging large sums of money.

Zia warned that these networks were spreading misinformation to create unrest and protect their operations. He said such activities tarnish Pakistan’s reputation and lead to difficulties for citizens seeking visas abroad.

He assured the public that immigration staff would continue to facilitate all genuine travellers with valid documents. The FIA also urged citizens to rely solely on official updates, noting that fabricated online content aims to damage public trust.
