Lahore Police has abolished the special green-signal protocol previously granted to senior officers in an effort to improve the city’s traffic flow.
According to sources, all police officers except the IG Punjab and CCPO Lahore will now stop at traffic signals like ordinary citizens. DIG Traffic and CTO Azhar Waheed have issued clear instructions to all relevant officers to end the protocol entirely and ensure that no route is blocked for police officials.
Traffic Police officials confirmed that DIGs, SSPs, and SPs will follow normal traffic rules and will wait at signals without receiving unnecessary privileges.
Sources added that instructions have been communicated to all circle officers to ensure strict implementation.
Only the IG Punjab and CCPO Lahore will continue to receive security-based route facilitation during official movement.
