The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) on Friday restored electricity to several Bahria Town housing projects after the administration cleared outstanding dues amounting to Rs682 million.
A Lesco spokesperson confirmed that power supply has been restored to four projects, including the main Bahria Town near Mohlanwal.
Lesco had disconnected electricity on Thursday evening over non-payment, triggering strong criticism from residents who had planned a protest after Friday prayers.
According to Lesco CEO Ramzan Butt, the original payment deadline of Nov 21 was extended multiple times at Bahria Town’s request, with the final extension granted until Nov 27. However, instead of clearing the dues, Bahria Town reportedly approached the court.
“Before any court decision, we disconnected the power supply to four projects, including the main Bahria Town, which alone owed over Rs530 million,” Butt told Dawn.
Lesco restored the supply only after the full outstanding amount was paid.
