The Sindh Education Department has barred private schools from forcing students to wear jackets in specific colors or designs during winter. The directive was issued on the instructions of Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah.
In a notification, the Directorate of Private Institutions instructed all private schools across the province to stop imposing uniform-specific winter jackets. Additional Director Rafia Javed made it clear that students are free to wear any warm clothing of their choice.
She stated that no school is allowed to compel children to buy or wear a particular jacket style or color, and action will be taken against institutions that violate the order.
Education Minister Sardar Shah said children’s health and comfort must take priority during the cold season. He added that students may wear any winter jacket they find suitable, and schools must not pressure parents into purchasing specific winter uniforms.

A very sensible decision if implemented
There are many schools like KPS cantt branch . Educator kala board branch issuing warnings to students who are not wearing proper school winter uniform. I can’t afford each year new jackets and winter clothes along with daily assignments print outs . It is difficult for us middle class people. We know how much fees every year we are paying increase by 1000 rs yearly . Continues but there is no one to look after them . Then why is the government issuing such article in newspaper. If they can’t take action physically only say words verbally.
The Sind government should consider introducing winter jackets with Ajrak mark and start issuing eChallans for schools in violation.
