Australia clinched the IMC Over-40s T20 Cricket World Cup 2025 title after beating Pakistan by seven wickets in an exciting final held at the National Bank Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Chasing Pakistan’s total of 151, the Australians built their innings around Steve Nottle’s steady 47 off 40 balls, while Steven Paulsen added a valuable 42 off 34.
The decisive blow came from Nasir Jalil, who blasted an unbeaten 25 from just 10 deliveries, striking at 250, to seal the victory with one over left.
Pakistan’s bowlers attempted to defend the total, with Fawad Alam standing out thanks to his impressive spell of 2 for 16. But Australia’s composed batting effort proved too strong.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan chose to bat first but were immediately put under pressure by Mark Cleary’s brilliant five-wicket haul. His 5 for 22 dismantled Pakistan’s top order and shifted the momentum Australia’s way.
Despite small contributions from Nadeem Javed (24), Fawad Alam (24), and Abdul Razzaq (19), Pakistan managed only 150 for 9 in their 20 overs.
The 2025 edition of the IMC Over-40s T20 Cricket World Cup featured 12 nations competing in 42 matches across various Karachi venues.
Australia’s win capped an intense and entertaining tournament, underlining the rising global interest in veteran T20 competitions and showcasing the high skill level among over-40 players.
