Pakistan has announced an ambitious plan to deploy 3,000 electric vehicle charging stations across the country between 2025 and 2030 in an effort to accelerate the shift toward clean transportation.
According to an official document shared with APP on Sunday, the government has allocated 240 charging stations for the current fiscal year.
Private companies will establish the stations, while the Ministry of Industries and Production, NEECA, the Ministry of Energy, NEPRA, and power distribution companies will jointly oversee the rollout.
The initiative forms a key component of the Draft New Energy Vehicle Policy, which the Ministry of Industries and Production developed to support nationwide electric mobility adoption.
Since the issuance of the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and Battery Swapping Stations Regulations on October 24, 2024, NEECA has already issued 72 licenses for EV charging facilities.
