Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has made a major announcement regarding the examination timetable for matric and intermediate students, marking a significant shift from the previously issued schedule.
He has confirmed that matric and intermediate examinations will now be held after Ramadan and Eid, moving the annual board exams beyond the holy month to provide students with a more suitable academic environment.
Matric exams are now expected to take place around March 24, with intermediate papers likely to be held afterward.
This change comes more than a week after the Punjab Education Department had formally issued the earlier dates for the 2026 academic cycle. Under the previous schedule, matric exams were set to begin on March 3, 2026, while intermediate exams were scheduled to start on May 5.
The updated decision revises that timeline and aligns the examinations with the post-Ramadan period, ensuring students can focus on their studies without the additional pressure of preparing during fasting days.
