Rawalpindi to Get a New Modern Hospital

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has approved plans to build a new hospital in the Jhanda Chichi area. The decision came during a meeting chaired by RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, where officials also agreed to shift several major facilities to designated zones along the Ring Road.

RDA approved the hospital project to expand access to modern medical services. The DG said the new hospital will reduce pressure on existing healthcare centers and improve timely treatment for residents.

Officials also decided to relocate wholesale fruit and vegetable markets, transport terminals, educational institutions, and industrial units to planned zones on the Ring Road. The authority aims to ease traffic congestion, lower pollution, and reduce the urban load on densely populated parts of Rawalpindi.

The DG directed the Engineering Directorate, Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering Directorate, Estate Management Directorate, and Land Development Directorate to identify and allot suitable sites along the Ring Road corridor.

She said RDA will shift all transport terminals to the starting and ending points of the Ring Road to improve inter-district and intra-city mobility. She added that major educational institutions will move to purpose-built campuses with improved infrastructure.

RDA will also establish dedicated health zones that will include hospitals, medical stores, and diagnostic centers.
