The Regional Tax Office (RTO) Abbottabad has carried out one of the region’s largest enforcement operations, seizing 3,000 bales of raw tobacco, each weighing about 80,000 kg, during a major crackdown on illicit trade.
Officials said the raid marks a significant breakthrough in efforts to curb smuggling, prevent revenue losses, and disrupt illegal supply networks that undermine compliant businesses.
The premises where the tobacco was stored have been sealed, and a formal investigation is now underway.
RTO Abbottabad described the confiscation as one of the biggest tobacco seizures in the area’s history, reinforcing the Federal Board of Revenue’s resolve to strengthen monitoring and take decisive action against illegal tobacco movement.
The FBR said the operation reflects its broader commitment to eliminating illicit trade and safeguarding legitimate industry players through strict enforcement measures.
