The Pakistan team’s all-format tour of Bangladesh is likely to be moved to a different window after a schedule clash with the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
As per the Future Tours Programme (FTP), Pakistan is set to tour Bangladesh in March–April next year for a full series featuring two ICC World Test Championship (WTC) matches, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and three T20 Internationals.
However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi earlier announced that the 11th edition of the PSL will take place from March 26 to May 3, creating a clash with the planned international tour.
Following the announcement, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source confirmed that the home series against Pakistan will be shifted to another window. “The series will be rescheduled,” the BCB source said.
The source further stressed that the two cricket boards are currently in discussion. It said that the number of matches will not be reduced under any circumstances, and a suitable window is being assessed and will be announced soon.
“ODI or T20I matches can be reshuffled within the ODI series if required. An official announcement will be made after consultation with the PCB,” the source added.
The development comes at a time when the PCB is also exploring international investors for the two new PSL franchises that are set to be sold.
As part of its global outreach strategy, the PCB has already conducted roadshows at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London and in New York to engage potential investors ahead of the franchise auction.
It is worth noting that the PSL, which began in 2016 with five teams and expanded to six in 2018, will add two more franchises in its upcoming 11th edition. This expansion will mark the league’s first major restructuring in seven years, increasing the total number of teams to eight.
