Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that the government has increased the Head Teacher Allowance tenfold.
In a statement, he said merit based head teachers will now receive an additional Rs.5,000 to Rs.10,000, linked to their performance.
Separately, thousands of teachers involved in conducting the socio economic survey received relief after the government approved compensation for duties performed on public holidays.
According to official instructions issued by the Punjab Urban Unit, teachers assigned survey duties on Sundays or public holidays will receive Rs.4,000 per day. Sources said authorities received several complaints regarding the non payment of allowances to teachers performing survey duties, which prompted the decision.
To ensure timely disbursement, the Punjab Urban Unit has issued formal letters to all concerned departments and authorities, directing them to complete the compensation process without further delay.
