Pakistan are set to announce their squad soon for the three-match T20 International series against Sri Lanka, with emerging talent and returning stars expected to feature.
Sources say the Pakistan selection committee is holding final discussions to confirm the lineup for the Sri Lanka tour, which begins on January 7 in Dambulla. The remaining matches are scheduled for January 9 and 11.
All-rounder Shadab Khan is expected to make a comeback after missing the recent series due to injury, giving Pakistan a boost in the middle order. Fast bowler Haris Rauf is also under consideration; he was left out of the recent South Africa tour and the T20I tri-nation series, but selectors are assessing his fitness and availability.
Emerging players may also get opportunities, with young opener Maaz Sadaqat and fast bowler Ahmed Daniyal likely to be included. Some squad members may continue their participation in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL 15) during the tour, depending on workload management and availability.
The squad announcement comes ahead of the January 7 deadline for submitting provisional rosters for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Teams can make changes up to the deadline, while alterations within a week of the tournament will require ICC approval.
The T20 World Cup is scheduled from February 7 to March 8, with Pakistan drawn in Group A alongside India, the United States, the Netherlands, and Namibia.
