A leopard was spotted inside the International Islamic University Islamabad, prompting the university administration to close all blocks and call in wildlife and police authorities.
A spokesperson for the university confirmed that the leopard was seen in the bushes within the campus, causing panic among students.
In response, the administration decided to shut down all university units immediately. The wildlife department and police were summoned to handle the situation. The spokesperson added that the university would remain closed until the leopard was captured.
The Islamabad Wildlife team arrived at the university and initiated a search operation. During the operation, they found evidence of the leopard’s presence. As a precaution, they continued patrolling the area and setting up traps to ensure the animal’s capture.
The spokesperson urged the public to remain calm, avoid spreading rumors, and cooperate with the authorities during the operation.

Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) Statement
The IWMB is actively monitoring the reported leopard sighting at the International Islamic University.
Leopards are naturally present in Margalla Hills National Park and are highly adaptable animals.
Scientific studies show that a leopard’s home range may extend 20–30 km², and their movement increases at night. Occasional movement toward adjoining areas can therefore occur.
Leopards in this landscape have adapted to human presence; it is now equally important for humans to adapt by understanding leopard behavior and practicing responsible coexistence.
At this stage, there is no need to panic. Relevant teams are vigilant and coordinating with concerned authorities.
