The Punjab government has approved a Rs. 300 million budget for the purchase of electric bikes and laptops for players of the Khelta Punjab Games, according to a report aired on Friday.
The provincial government has granted formal approval for a supplementary grant to release the funds. The project had already received prior approval, and the allocation of funds has now been finalized.
Under the plan, the Punjab Finance Department will release Rs. 300 million for the procurement of 980 electric bikes. The bikes will be acquired under a government-to-government model from Wah Industries.
In addition, more than 600 laptops will be distributed to players under the age of 18. The laptops will be provided through the Chief Minister Laptop Program.
