Will It Snow on Margalla Hills During Next Few Days?

Rumors have been circulating on social media suggesting possible snowfall on the highest peak of Islamabad’s Margalla Hills, Tilla Chruni, between the night of December 31, 2025, and the morning of January 2, 2026.

According to these claims, a thunderstorm could trigger heavy hail or wet snow, leading to a significant drop in temperatures in the area.

Tilla Chruni, standing at approximately 1,604 meters (5,262 feet) above sea level, is part of the Margalla Hills National Park, located just on the outskirts of Islamabad.

However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has dismissed these reports as mere speculation. Officials clarified that no snowfall is expected on the Margalla Hills in the coming days.

The PMD explained that the current minimum surface temperature is around 3°C, while snowfall generally requires temperatures at or below freezing (0°C).

Residents and visitors are advised to rely on official weather updates rather than unverified social media reports, especially during winter when conditions in the hills can change rapidly.
